What Is A Cross Flow Cooling Tower?
Different from a counterflow cooling tower, a cross flow cooling tower is much more efficient and serviceable. It saves a sizeable amount of pump energy as water flow is by gravity, and thus the spray nozzles do not need any additional pressure. Water flow rates are also lower.
Serviceability is an advantage with cross flow towers. They can be inserted with an internal platform which can be used to service and inspect the necessary parts. They then can also be built with an external service platform or a ladder with handrails that allows safe maintenance access.
